Traffic Volumes In Kapiti
Remember that Stephen Joyce and Nathan Guy keep telling us that traffic levels through Kapiti are growing inexorably.
They used this issue to try convince us that there is a need for an expressway.
Well that looks like a well orchestrated untruth and NZTA’s own figures prove it.
NZTA have a regular vehicle count site for North of Lindale.
Below is the time series for that site for 2000 to 2009.
GWRC have stated “It therefore appears that at this site traffic, has been fairly constant over the last 10 years.”
And as you can see there is consistently less every year than that of 2000.
To add to the dishonesty they are using a forecasted 2% pa growth that shows us they are already 5,000 above the actual readings.
That’s a 25% over estimation, let’s hope their budgeting is that bad as $550 million (year 2009 dollars) becomes $750 million.
